Apr 21. 2024 Concher This is an unusual fly among Bergman’s Wet Flies in “Trout”. His recipe calls for a floss wing and beard. In J. Edson Leonard it is a quill wing with green and a center stripe of red. Rayon was invented in the late 1800s and came to the US in pre WW1 as a silk replacement. Did Bergman use Rayon? Apr 19. 2024 Black Squirrel Flashback Nymph With it's flashy appearance, this nymph is sure to turn heads on trout and grayling. In this fourth video in our series on how to tie fuzzy nymphs and streamer flies using hair and fur from skin patches, I tie a typical furry nymph with a flashy wingcase, that give an illusion of the trapped air bobble that many insects create, when rising to the surface for hatching. I have tied several of these on this channel already. Check them out in these links: Video 1 week 5 days

Apr 12. 2024 Nervous water Sandeel Baitfish imitations are a must-have in the box of everyone chasing the fish of their dreams. Even the largest and most selective trout in the river can sometimes be fooled by a well-fished fish imitation, and when we talk about fishing in salt water, baitfish imitations must not be missing at all. Video 1 week 6 days
Apr 12. 2024 Yellow Skjern Zonker The trophy for most salmon fishermen is the spring salmon. It comes fresh from the sea and is in absolute top condition, and brilliantly silvershiny - a true dream-trophy. Video 1 week 6 days
Apr 10. 2024 Favorite of Carrère This pattern is very similar to the English pattern the Red Tag. We don't know if Carrere was aware of the English pattern or came up with this on his own. The major difference is in the hackle which is tied in Spanish style. See my video on Moscas Ahogadas to understand more. Video 2 weeks 14 hours

Apr 8. 2024 Fly fishing V-Log 7 Veiðivötn 2023 Here I'll be joining a group of great anglers that I fish with every year. We have reserved permits on 4-7 July in Veiðivötn region in the central volcanic highlands of Iceland. Stunningly beautiful area with about 40 lakes in it that you can fish in. Big fish and sometimes a lot of it. I go with my fishing partner, Ingi Rafn who has been fishing with me since 2007. Video 2 weeks 2 days
Apr 8. 2024 Grizzly King | Fly Tying tutorial Ívar's Fly Workshop Here we will be tying the Grizzly King pattern by Professor James Wilson, brother of John Wilson [creator of the Professor fly]. The fly was first published in the magazine Rod and Gun, 1840, and the author describes his fly as so: "The Grizzly King is a hackle par excellence. They call him Coomberland in the northern parts of merry England. Video 2 weeks 2 days
Apr 8. 2024 PT Jig Here we will be tying a simple Jig variant of the Pheasant tail by mr. Frank Sawyer himself! The Pheasant Tail is classic nymph, really effective and probably the most popular nymphs in Icelandic trout fishing among with the Peacock nymph. This version of it tied in a jig style works great in running waters, in sizes from #12-18. The fly is a great option for both stream and lake fishing. Video 2 weeks 2 days
Apr 7. 2024 Deer Mask Emerger A short tutorial on making dubbing from a deer mask. If you haven't used a deer mask before please try and get your hands on one, they are a gold mine of material, especially for the caddis fly tyers out there. I have also included a link below if you would like to see my video on skinning and prepping a deer mask. Video 2 weeks 3 days
Apr 7. 2024 No See Um Probably the quickest fly that you will ever tie! This little comparadun midge is the 'bees knees' when it comes to simplicity and presentation. It sits low in the surface and can be tied in whatever colour you require. Use a hackle that is a little larger than standard for the hook size, this makes it more visible at distance. Video 2 weeks 3 days
Apr 7. 2024 Hard Head Nymph Here is a heavy autumn nymph that is easy to tie and pushes all the buttons for cold water trout and grayling. Tie it without the bead or adjust the size and weight to fish in the required water depth and sink speed. Video 2 weeks 3 days
Apr 7. 2024 Best of Both Emerger This is a very interesting pattern from Gordon van der Spuy’s first book, 'The feather mechanic’. The best of both, has two parachute hackles, one of traditional hackle and one of CDC. The lower CDC hackle helps give the emerger a more lifelike presentation, rather than the more static traditional hackle. Video 2 weeks 3 days
Apr 7. 2024 Emaciated Mayfly A relatively new pattern that I have only fished with this season, that has proven extremely effective, especially in the smaller sizes. Consisting of a CDC detached body and a comparadun wing of CDL and CDC, this extremely simple pattern is a very quick tie. The straightforward construction results in a very realistic footprint and perfect presentation every cast. Video 2 weeks 3 days
Apr 7. 2024 Ubiquitous Nymph A generic nymph for all round use, anytime, anywhere. Over the years this little nymph has worked wonders for me. Rather than targeting any single nymph species, the design try's to emphasize on as many 'nymphy' qualities as possible, as reflected in it's given name. Video 2 weeks 3 days
Apr 7. 2024 Midge Emerger A deadly little pattern that should be in all fly boxes! This midge emerger can be tied in any colour and various sizes to match any midge hatch. The design allows the midge to fish correctly with the rear of the body submerged, with the CDC keeping it afloat. Try it and it will increase your hook up's! Video 2 weeks 3 days
Apr 7. 2024 Caddis Emerger This easy tie is a must for both caddis and midge hatches. Fish it static or with a short pull every few seconds, just to create a little disturbance in the surface. It's also deadly fished dead drift on running water. Video 2 weeks 3 days

Apr 6. 2024 Blue-Wing Midge The Blue Wing Midge (BWM) is an adult midge pattern designed to be fished wet. The BWM is a fly design that exploits two recent scientific discoveries: The first is that midge wings commonly show colored zones produced by what are called WIPs—Wing Interference Patterns-- these are caused by the same phenomena that you see making colors on soap bubbles. Video 2 weeks 4 days
Apr 5. 2024 Grey Squirrel Sculpin Ultimate sculpin fly! This is the third video in our series on how to tie fuzzy nymphs and streamer flies using hair and fur from skin patches. Video 2 weeks 5 days
Apr 3. 2024 Incomparable This is my tying of Guy Plas’ Incomparable pattern. I learned about this fly from Jean-Paul Pequegnot’s book “French Fishing Flies”. This pattern uses pardo Gallo de Leon (speckled ones) from the “kidney” feathers tied as a false hackle in front of a grey dun rooster hackle. The rooster hackle is tied with the best side facing the rear so the fish see the best side of all feathers. Video 3 weeks 14 hours

Mar 29. 2024 SloMo Worm Redish Few things can make the trout along the Scandinavian coasts as selective as when the large swarms of ragworms appear when the water get warmer after the cold winter. The abundance of food can make the trout super difficult, but not impossible to trick into taking the fly - but it requires a fly that in color and movement resembles the original. Mar 27. 2024 Plover Spider This pattern is one of many from Austin Ridsdale’s Journal 1931 (North Country Spider). A photo of a few pages of this journal were shared online by Robert Smith. The original patterns were intended for smallmouth bass on the Susquehanna River. Video 1 month 4 days

Mar 21. 2024 Dýrbítur Fancy Here we will be tying the fly Dýrbítur, a legendary fly by an Icelandic fly tying and fly fishing legend, Sigurður Pálsson. This version of the Dýrbítur is an excellent option for spring fishing for sea-run trout. The fly is a great option for both stream and lake fishing. A black version of the Dýrbítur is favoured by many many anglers here in Iceland. Totally worth to tie and to try. Video 1 month 4 days
Mar 21. 2024 Pheasant Tail Here we will be tying a simple variant of the Pheasant tail by mr. Fran Sawyer himself! The Pheasant Tail is classic nymph, really effective and probably the most popular nymphs in Icelandic trout fishing among with the Peacock nymph. Mar 20. 2024 Splitsville Caddis/Foam Front End Loader Thanks for tuning into this chaos! So, I should state for the record a few things about my fishing...I almost exclusively fish a "mono rig" in what could be called a "tightline" method. I do this with both rods designed for Euro nymphing and with Tenkara/Keiryu rods and a fixed line. Even when I fish a euro style rod I mostly fish lighter flies. Video 1 month 5 days
Mar 20. 2024 Brown Scandi Leach Big fish have become big by being careful and have found good spots to hide in the water from dangers. In this video, we have had the Danish fly tyer and fly fisherman Mads Pedersen in the studio to demonstrate his favorite fly for fishing for large sea trout in his local Danish rivers and streams. Video 1 month 5 days
Mar 19. 2024 Copper Liz No 2 This pattern and others can be found in Lefty Kreh's Saltwater Fly Patterns. The Copper Liz is a series of flies designed for redfish, but really they are effective for multiple species. The Number 2, should definitely be in your box for fishing grass and snaggy areas where you don't need the water-pushing effect of no.1's water deer hair head Video 1 month 6 days
Mar 17. 2024 Cutcliffe #X Thanks for tuning in. This is HC Cutcliffe's number 10 pattern. It is the only one with a thread body and a resemblance to the silk bodied flies of the North Country tradition but instead of a soft hackle it has a stiff hackle. Hook: Partridge size 14 long shank Capt. Hamiton Bend Thread: Claret silk Body: Claret silk Hackle: steely blue rooster hackle Video 1 month 1 week
