The DSI: Yarn-based Detachable Strike Indicator
When contact nymphing it is useful to be able to convert to a suspension nymphing system to widen the area where a drag-free drift is possible. This video shows how to make a wool-yarn-based Detachable Strike Indicator (dubbed a DSI), that can be mounted on a leader and removed without damaging or kinking the leader. A DSI enables rapid shift from contact to suspension nymphing and back.

PT Heavy
Here we will be tying the fly PT Heavy Nymph. The fly is a great option for both stream and lake fishing and works great when fished deep. The fly is taken by both brown trout and Arctic char and by and by some salmon will bite it as well. The tying is simple to arrange and I personally highly recommend this fly in the numbers #10 #12 #14 and in lighter toned colours as well.

Hlíðarvatnspúpan
Here we will be tying the fly Hlíðarvatnspúpan by mr. Þór Nielsen. Þór was an Icelandic angler, well known for his famous patterns he designed. I reckon Killer is his most know pattern. However Hlíðarvatnspúpan reminds a little bit to the Watson's Fancy nymph version and therefor it's a great fly, specially for catching the Arctic char.

Chubby Peacock
Here we will be tying a chubby version of the famous Icelandic nymph Peacock by mr. Kolbeinn Grímsson. The Chubby Peacock or a Cigar Peacock like it's called in Iceland is almost kind of a must have fly if your planning a fishing trip in the Þingvellir's national park. There the depth of the water requires a heavy fly that sinks fast.

Cheeky UV Buzzer
In this video we'll be tying a Buzzer that I made an "designed" last summer. I like to call it Cheeky UV Bøsser (playing with words if you speak Danish) because of the UV material in the cheeks of it. It's been giving so far great results for fishing brown trout and Arctic char in the lakes I fish in. I fished this fly quite a bit in last summer 2021 and it gave good results.

Burton
Here we will be tying the nymph Burton by mr. Hafsteinn Björgvinsson. The fly is a great option for both stream and lake fishing. The fly catches both brown trout and arctic char and have been successful in Icelandic water ever since it was made by it's author. Red Tag
Here we will be tying the fly Red Tag by mr. Martyn Flynn, originally a Grayling pattern. This fly can be tied both as a wet fly or dry. Both versions work out just fine and the Red Tag is a great option for both stream and lake fishing. The fly catches both brown trout and arctic char here in Iceland. It's a simple pattern to tie and very effective under the right circumstances.

This is one of my Go-to flies there are always in the box. I prefer them in sizes 16-20, but you can of course tie them smaller. Here in Iceland size nr. 16 has worked out just fine.

The hot glue rods can be purchased for next to nothing at hobby shops and one rod will make enough ants for you and all your fishing friends for a lifetime!
