Concher

This is an unusual fly among Bergman’s Wet Flies in “Trout”. His recipe calls for a floss wing and beard. In J. Edson Leonard it is a quill wing with green and a center stripe of red.

Rayon was invented in the late 1800s and came to the US in pre WW1 as a silk replacement. Did Bergman use Rayon?

Hook: size 10 sproat bend wet fly
Tail: Red quill slips - 4 fibers wide
Body: insect green floss - I used Uni Lt Green.
Beard: same color floss
Wing: same color floss

Enjoy!

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
